Why Are Potato Chips Bag's Always Half-Empty?



We've all gone there. We get a delicious bag of chips which is not cheap at all and to open it that the damn thing is less than half empty Yes, you know this deal a big big bag, but when you open it and look inside, it What is almost empty? Why all waste air? Are we going to burst, or is there a real reason for air? Okay, there really is a good reason for this, and the air is not the type of air that you can think of, the potato chip bag is actually Nitrogen.

Okay, I know nitrogen actually makes the vast majority of air that we breathe, so nitrogen is still air in the potato chip bag as air. But surely you should be wondering why just nitrogen? Why not just fill the bag to fill the baggage with all the winds? Well it all comes down to conservation.

You know that when you buy bags of chips, a date is printed on that bag which indicates that they will no longer be optimal for consumption. Well, have you ever wondered why once inside the packet Chips are opened, why does not it last? I mean, in general, if they are not eaten on that day, they become stale and only taste terrific. The reason for this is the oxygen in the air due to chips being stale. After all, oxygen causes the food to completely stale. Replace oxygen with a safe gas, such as nitrogen, and good food.

There are so many meals that have been removed to maintain oxygen. Foods like beef jerks are not only salted at one point where nothing can survive, but to help keep the product, zero is also uninterrupted. In fact, there are many foods that use vacuum seals to prolong shelf life. But this is something that you can not do with chips, and for a good reason. If you try to vacuum seal chips, you will not be left more than the pieces crushed under the bag.
 Nobody want to do this, filling a potato chips with nitrogen will ensure that there is no oxygen, or as little as possible to avoid spoiling it.


A packaging gas is used to pack sensitive material such as food in a modified ambient environment. The gas used is usually inactive, or a nature which protects the integrity of packaged items, prevents undesirable chemical reactions such as food loss or oxidation, as well as working as a propellant for some whipped cream cans such as aerosol spray can do. For packaging food, the use of various gases has been approved by regulatory organizations.
